Mitel UC 'Advanced' enables all-in-one Unified Communications 

 

As part of its Series X strategy, Mitel has launched a complete Unified Communications suite with innovative, industry-leading functionality.

 

UC Advanced, Release 3

- Provides access to all communications devices, including desk phones, soft phones, and mobile phones.

 

- Includes voice mail, instant messaging, presence, audio and web conferencing, desktop video conferencing, and document sharing capabilities.

- Integrates with Microsoft Office, IBM Lotus Notes and Act!, allowing users to initiate calls from within those applications.

 

- Can scale to 5,000 users on a single server.

UC Advanced capabilities include…

- Dynamic Extension lets individual users configure as many as 8 Mitel or non-Mitel devices to act as personal extensions of the corporate network.

- Dynamic Status allows users to configure their status with advanced call routing capabilities and calendar integration, as well as caller prioritization; for example, users can take calls from their boss 24/7, but limit those from other colleagues to business hours.

- Visual Voice Mail via NuPoint Unified Messaging gives users the ability to see and access their voicemails, as well as the presence status of internal callers, allowing them to reply to messages in the most appropriate way at any given time.

- Web and Mobile Portals provide secure access to the UC Advanced interface from a web browser or a mobile device, supporting the increasingly mobile workplace.

- Business Continuity through integrated RSS feeds that allow for enterprise-wide notifications.

- Users can get pop-up information about callers as calls come in, including e-mail history, contact entries and relevant shared documents to ensure they have the information they need to handle the call real-time.

- Voicemail and conferencing menus can be navigated with a single click. There is also the ability to respond to incoming calls via IM -- a new way for users to address a caller's needs immediately if they are already tied up with a call.

Mitel's TeleCollaboration solution Release 1.5  provides video teleconferencing and includes integrated browser-based collaboration capabilities, low bandwidth requirements, and recording functions.

A separate application -- Smoke Signal -- is used to broadcast voice, text and e-mail messages about upcoming events, staff meetings, or even an emergency like a weather or lockdown situation.

'Personal Call Handler'


The Personal Call Handler, with simultaneous ring, call screening, and schedule-based call handling is one of the more popular FeatureFlex applications for the Strata CIX.

 

Now Toshiba has enhanced PCH to improve mobile user productivity...

- Let users know caller identity through the caller ID announcement capability.

- Display the caller's ID information on the cell phone so the user can see who is calling.

- Enable easier hand-off of the call from the cell phone to the desk phone by pressing a button on the desk phone.

- Allow activation or deactivation of the PCH application by pressing a button on the desk phone.
