Business Rx for Swine Flu Outbreak:
Adopt a Telework Program

Whether the swine flu mutates this summer and comes on strong this fall or goes out with a whimper, the recent headlines serve as a reminder of how important it is to keep both your emergency response plan and network infrastructure up to date.

The best hedge against a disaster of any kind is to have a telework program in place. As a central plank in Continuity of Operations Planning, telework plays a vital role in helping organizations maintain operations during emergency situations that make it undesirable or impossible for employees to go to the office.

Even Federal agencies recognize the value of telework in maintaining operations during a disaster. According to the Office of Personnel Management, currently 60% of agencies include telework in their continuity plans.

In order to be 100% effective, telework should be incorporated into your organizations’ standard operating procedure and tested often. Without a back up plan in place, your operations could grind to a halt when disaster strikes.

Get disaster protection that works when you need it.

Refining your strategic business plan?
Don’t forget to exploit technology that can get you there faster!

Large companies can easily become mired down with legacy technologies, making it difficult for them to change direction and respond to changing markets. Protecting old investments inflates the cost of doing business - and impairs big businesses' ability to compete.

Small businesses can take on these larger firms by using new technology to stay nimble. With the right solutions, smaller companies can be better positioned to enter new markets, respond quickly to customer demand, and contain operating costs.

Here are some aspects of today’s technologies that belong in your strategic business plan...

  1. Smart Powered IT – It’s all about using voice and data technologies that cut power usage and costs. The savings add up fast!

  2. Unified Communications – When all information is digital, the advantages of carrying it on a unified IP infrastructure are clear - less cabling, simplified management, lower costs, and more....

  3. Telework – Extending the voice and data capabilities enjoyed by your customer service and sales reps in your office to their homes or remote locations reduces your real estate costs, provides personal service to customers, and keeps your business running should a local disaster strike.

  4. Web & Video Conferencing – Workgroup meetings are just the start. Imagine sales meetings, product launches, training and testing, customer support, and corporate briefings…

  5. Mobility – Increases efficiency and productivity in the moment by extending the functionality of your office phone system to employees’ mobile devices.

When you’re developing or refining a strategic business plan, get the experts at Chesapeake seated at the table.  We'll bring good ideas and solutions to the discussion. Call us: (800) 787-4848 or jnolte@chesapeaketelephone.com.

Mitel’s new ‘Dynamic Extension’ software provides work-where-you-are flexibility

Mitel’s Dynamic Extension offers single-number “reachability” so calls to your business phone can simultaneously ring up to eight devices in a personal ring group, handing off the call seamlessly between devices.

The software extends user presence and availability to other staff on the corporate network, so that a mobile employees' status is visible and can be previewed before deciding to dial.

Dynamic Extension supports existing office and mobile phones − including phones not supplied by Mitel − so employees are free to use their personal cell phones if they choose. This allows organizations to leverage and add value to existing assets to both increase productivity and save money.

Find out more about Dynamic Extension and how it can help your teams stay connected. Call us today (800) 787-4848 or email jnolte@chesapeaketelephone.com.

Toshiba launches uMobility
Dual Cellular and Wi-Fi Mobility

In today’s fast-paced business world, mobility is essential to staying in touch with customers and colleagues.

To work effectively in this dynamic environment, Toshiba’s uMobility solution offers automatic call handoff between mobile carriers and your company’s wireless networks.

Toshiba’s uMobility offers other benefits too …

- A single voicemail box with unified messaging can be used for all your business calls

- Lets you access office extensions, external lines, and voice mail from anywhere on campus with wireless coverage

- You can take advantage of the advanced calling features of the Strata CIX system while you are on the move

- You need not give out personal cell phone numbers to business contacts

We can show you how your business can make more money by having employees use their cell phone as a Strata CIX extension. Contact us today at (800) 787-4848 or email jnolte@chesapeaketelephone.com.
