Want smarter phones?
Find out how CTS experts gave an Annapolis firm's phones
a new life
A software company in Annapolis recently bought 20 IP Phones from an
online store for use with a Hosted IP Phone service. The problem was
that the phones did not work well with the Host provider’s platform.
That’s when the software company turned to Chesapeake for help.
Chesapeake engineers tested one of the IP Phones in
our lab, and then recommended an economical solution --
the Mitel 3300 CX. The company’s investment in IP Phones would be
preserved and the 3300 CX would provide the critical features the
company needed, including voice mail and unified messaging.
To make it all work was no easy task, especially under a severe time
constraint. Chesapeake programmers had to get under the hood of the 3300
CX and do some creative coding to enable the IP Phones to access some
key features of the CX. To help with this transition, Chesapeake experts
also coordinated the move from PRI to SIP Trunking.
Don’t let the wrong phones hold back your business… The experts at
Chesapeake can pull you through. Contact us today at (800) 787-4848

This is Big!
Make plans now to back up your Mitel phone system with Virtualization!
Mitel has announced the next step in its virtualization strategy, which
will enable you to leverage industry standard servers to maximize
space, optimize IT resources, reduce power, and deliver business
continuity for your phone system.
The idea behind virtualization is simple. Instead of paying for multiple
servers, virtualization lets you consolidate
different operating systems, applications and workloads onto fewer
machines for a much lower total cost of ownership.
For example, one virtual machine can be used to consolidate your print
server, FAX server, Exchange server and Web server -- greatly reducing the cost of hardware, maintenance, and
management time.
Soon, VMware's vSphere 4 platform will enable you to
add Mitel's Communications Director and voice applications, and run them efficiently in a virtualized environment.
Your virtual 'cloud' could be extended to
include secure servers at Chesapeake to host images of your IP phone
system for business continuity, eliminating the cost of networked IP
Phone systems to achieve the same result.
We'll keep you posted as more details emerge on the Mitel - VMware
partnership.
Meanwhile, learn more about virtualization and how it can
benefit your business… Call us today (800) 787-4848 or email

Healthcare providers update:
OAISYS Call Recording helps you comply with tighter
regulations
To comply with new federal regulations enforced by the Center for Medicare &
Medicaid Services (CMS), healthcare marketers and others must implement a
call recording solution.
The Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (MIPPA)
sets rules for sales and marketing tactics.
Organizations not meeting these guidelines are subject to aggressive
enforcement measures, such as having Medicare
billing privileges revoked or marketing activities suspended. MIPPA requires
that phone calls be recorded "to protect Medicare beneficiaries from
deceptive or high-pressure marketing tactics." All
appointments made over the phone with current or potential Medicare
enrollees must be recorded to provide documentation of the interaction.
Durable medical equipment, prosthetics and orthotics suppliers are
required to abide by 21 standards noted in the Social Security Act.
Marketing activities not adhering to these standa rds can
also result in enforcement measures. Voice
documentation can play a vital role in developing an effective
compliance program.
The federal stimulus package adds new provisions to the Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) while strengthening
others. Given this renewed dedication to HIPAA
enforcement, unsecured voice recording systems simply won’t cut it anymore.
OAISYS voice documentation solutions enable health care providers to ensure
compliance with the new rules. With an OAISYS voice documentation
system, you can:
- Create 100% accurate digital media documents of phone-based interactions
- Centrally store voice documents on a secure network repository
- Organize, retrieve, play back, annotate and share encrypted voice documents
- Leverage advanced call center management capabilities -- such as live call
monitoring, coaching, evaluating and reporting.
Our experts are ready to show you how OAISYS call recording and voice
documentation solutions can help ensure compliance and reduce liability
risks. Call us today: (800) 787-4848 or

Mitel rolls out unprecedented
Call Control features for
Mobile Employees
Today's employees are increasingly mobile. Whether down the
hall from their desk, at another office location, or meeting with customers
around the globe, Mitel's new 'Dynamic Extension' capa bility
keeps them connected to the office phone system, regardless
of device or carrier.
Your employees are free to use their choice of mobile or fixed devices -
which means you don't need to standardize, manage, or maintain mobile
devices. All business calls can be routed through the phone system, from any
device, without complicated SMDR billing schemes.
With single-number 'reachability' a call to a user's phone number
simultaneously rings up to 8 devices in a personal ring group, and provides
seamless hand-off between devices.
Each
user gets a single voice mail box and simple access to business
communications features from anywhere.
Solutions from Mitel competitors often only support a single twinned
device and may not come with an
included
handoff mechanism.
Dynamic Extension is embedded in Mitel’s Communications Director, which runs
on the Mitel 3300 or a standard server from Sun, HP, or IBM.
Stay connected with customers and colleagues, be more
productive, and save money. Contact us for all the details about
implementing Dynamic Extension on your Mitel phone system: (800) 787-4848
