Harford Community College completes successful phone system upgrade

 

Harford Community College, serving over 5,000 students from campus locations in Bel Air and Aberdeen, replaced its aging phone system, linked its two Harford County sites, added advanced capabilities, and improved response to incoming calls by implementing a Mitel 3300 IP phone system network.

Following the successful project,  college administrators acknowledged the role of Chesapeake as having been "wonderful to work with and making a difficult job easy.”

The new phone system is now paying off with more features and new management tools, making life easier for staff, school administrators, and the IT team.

Does your phone system room or closet
need a spring cleaning? 

 

The small room that comfortably holds your phone system and other equipment could interrupt your business if you don’t check it out periodically. Since spring is here, it’s a perfect time to clean it up.

Ensuring continuous uptime and call quality with IP equipment like routers, high-power switches and Uninterrupted Power Supplies has to include making sure environmental conditions are adequate.

It’s a good idea to measure the total heat load in the closet. An effective way to do this is by adding an environmental monitor to help you stay ahead of any significant fluctuations in temperature and humidity, especially when adding equipment.

Make sure the space is not crammed with office supplies, files, boxes, and unused furniture.

 

Check for dust buildup, since it can be drawn into your equipment through cooling fans. All this could disrupt proper cooling and airflow, causing equipment to run hotter and malfunction.

 

And check cabling to ensure it cannot be accidentally pulled from equipment when work has to be done in the room.
